Emmett Potter

Lives and works in Arizona, U.S.A.

Emmett Potter is a sound and visual artist. His audiovisual works explores the concept of using an implied narrative of the human experience, condition, and society based on familiar environmental sounds, field recordings of urban and nature settings and cinematic musical themes juxtaposed with nonmusical sound, noise and auditory glitch experiments.

His multimedia work is constructed with appropriated mid 20

century comic graphics, advertisements, found objects and photography. Through his methodology to adapt and collage pop culture symbols or sculptural items, Potter engages with Jungian archetypes and allegorical imagery found in commercial memorabilia, to create a cyclical pseudo-mirror that reflects back to us that which we are already programmed to know.

Potter’s works have been shown ASU Art Museum and Mesa Art Center.
